Chancroid or Soft Chancre

While diseases like AIDS and gonorrhea are more widely known in the world, it is also important for a person to know about all types of sexually transmitted diseases, regardless of how obscure. Chancroid is one such sexually transmitted disease that has not received the kind of attention from awareness campaigns and media focus that it should. Even so, the following are certain details of a disease that is fairly common but less known amongst the masses.

What is Chancroid?

Chancroid, as described above, is a sexually transmitted disease that is more common in the developing world. It is because of this that the majority of the western world is not aware of this sexually transmitted disease. However, even though Chancroid is not common, there have been outbreaks in the western world as well at regular intervals. The disease is primarily related to commercial sex workers and similar low socioeconomic groups. The disease is caused by a gram negative streptobacillus known as Haemophilus Ducreyi. Other names of the sexually transmitted disease include soft chancre and ulcus molle.

What are the symptoms of Chancroid?

As the alternate name of Chancroid hints, the sexually transmitted disease is characterized by soft chancre. Chancre is a medical term of sores or ulcers. In Chancroid, the sore forms in the genital region and is usually found alone in men. However, in women there are more than one ulcer with four or even more usually the norm. The incubation period that the sores take to show up can be anything between a single day to two weeks. The ulcer or ulcers tend to be soft and very susceptible to bleeding if scraped and touched roughly. Furthermore, the sore’s base usually has grey or yellowish grey material surrounding it. It is also worth mentioning that women tend to show more symptoms with specifics being problems like pain with urination and intercourse. Chancres from Chancroid can occur in all sexually related locations in the body like the vagina, penis, rectum and even mouth and lips.

Are there any special considerations?

It is very easy for a person to mistake a chancre of Chancroid with a chancre of syphilis because the two are quite similar. However, the chancre of Chancroid is soft while the chancre of syphilis is supposed to be hard. The most important distinguishing factor is that chancres of syphilis usually tend to be painless while chancres of Chancroid are usually quite painful. Therefore, the best way to diagnose the exact disease is for the patient to consult a medical practitioner.

What kind of treatments are there for Chancroid?

The problem with treating Chancroid is not much different from that of other sexually transmitted diseases. It is the fact that most patients fail to report symptoms due to shame. However, the treatment for Chancroid is quite easy and simple, provided it is reported and diagnosed early. Chancroid can be treated with antibiotics like azithromycin, ceftriaxone and erythromycin. While a single one gram dose of azithromycin is enough, ceftriaxone requires an IM dose and erythromycin requires a full-fledged oral regime spanning seven days.

I thought it would be good if you had a list of useful HTML tags to sue for your web designs. So I put together a list of the most basic, easy to use and straightforward tags for you. Hope you find it useful and helpful.

Basic HTML tags

<HTML></HTML> = Defines an HTML document is to follow and tells the page to begin reading the code that follows.

<body> = Body of text document. This is the main area of text on your page.

<header> = Header of the page.

<footer> = Footer of the page.

<title> = Title at top of page in the blue title bar at the very top of the page.

<end> = Ends the page. Can be used as a closing </HTML> tag in some instances.

<!– — > = This is a special tag that allows you to notate items inside your HTML document that is ignored by the viewing browser. In other words, it does not display to your readers. Only YOU can see it in the HTML. Use this to set sections apart or tell you what part of the page the code affects. Very useful in web design and coding.

Font manipulation tags

<b></b> = Bold text between tags.

<i> </i>- Italicized text between tags.

<u>></u> = Underlined text between tags.

<font size=?></font> = Make the size of the text between tags whatever you want it to be. Just replace the “?” with a number.

<font color=?></font> = Colorizes the text between tags. Just replace the “?” with a color like “green”, “blue” or “red” or any of the available colors. There are also color palettes that use code like “aaabbb” and such. Some of them use numerals. You can find these palettes on line and select the designer color you want.

<h?></h> = Headline text between tags. The “?” can be replaced with a number from 1 to 6. The higher the number, the smaller the text, so <h1> is the biggest and <h6> is the smallest.

<center><center> = Places the text between tags in the center of the main text area it is written in.

<marquee></marquee> = Causes the text between tags to scroll across the screen from left to right.

<S></S> = Strikeout text. Creates text between tags with a line through it. Like this: strikeout.

<strong></strong> = Places a strong emphasis on the text between the tags.

<small></small> = A small size font between the tags.

= Text between the tags is subscripted.

= Text between the tags is superscripted.

Element placement tags

<p></p> = Starts a paragraph

<div>></div> = Tells the page that there is a logical division here. Starts a new text area that is designated as a particular division or section of the page.

<hr> = Horizontal rule, or line, is placed beneath the text. This acts as a separator. Does not need a closing tag.

That is all for now, so take a few moments and digest this information. Practice it and see what they all do, then start adding the elements to your web pages as desired. There are literally hundreds more tags that all do special things like denote list, add forms and allow user input. We’ll see that a little later.

Lanyards – Handy Household Tool

People are well aware that lanyards are great for holding keys and Id tags. They are used to having a lanyard with them while they are on the job. However, many people do not think that this same principle can be applied to things that they may need to carry around the house.

With all the recent scares, everyone is concerned about germs. Children are among the worst offenders. They do not wash their hands regularly nor are they inclined to blow their nose. To ensure that your child always has a tissue, make a lanyard tissue holder. This simple device will ensure that your child has a Kleenex with them wherever they are in the house.

You should also think about having a holder made for your cordless phone. Many people like to have the home phone with them no matter where they are in the house. A lanyard holder can make this possible. Even if you are in the backyard gardening or barbecuing you can have your phone and still have your hands free. This same technique is a great way to carry your cell phone.

The lanyards can also be used to help with any household repairs. Any professional painter will tell you that it is vital to have a drip cloth with you at all times. T does not matter how long you have been painting accidents can and do happen. The next time that you are doing a touch-up in your home, make certain that you have a cloth and a lanyard. Rather than trying to carry the cloth attach it to the lanyard using a simple bull clip.

Not everyone likes to wear a watch around their wrist. If you are one of these people you may discover that a lanyard is the perfect alternative. A lanyard pouch works great as a watch pocket. Even if you do have a normal watch you may be concerned about getting a watch dirty while working in the garden or do not want it to get wet while you are washing the car.

You can also use this pouch to hold any other pieces of jewellery that you are afraid of losing while you are outside. Many people like to remove their rings, and although they try to keep their rings in one place, this is not always possible. The lanyard pouch ensures that you will not lose your rings nor will forget where you took them off.

Another great use of the lanyard in the yard is for special keys. Not everybody has pockets in their shorts. If you have to have a set of keys to unlock a shed or start your lawn tractor, there is no better place than a key ring attached to a lanyard.

Lanyards are just as useful for the home as they are in the office. No matter what you plan on doing, you can find ways to use a lanyard right at home.

Types And Specifications Of Solar Panel Trackers

You can use solar panel trackers as an effective way of increasing your solar power generation without incurring extra costs. Solar energy has become a common alternative, and a greener way of generating power. Its main cost is the initial cost of installation, once that’s covered the rest is free.

Solar panels are becoming part and parcel of suburban living, and you can maximize power generation by using trackers. You can install trackers along with these panels to ensure that they are constantly aligned in the direction of sunlight. This removes the hassle of changing the direction yourself after every hour or two according to the position of the sun.

Solar panel trackers are available in many types, designs, and working mechanisms. There are two main types of this equipment that are used both domestically and commercially. It is useful to have knowledge of these types so that you can select the best one for your use.

Active Solar Panel Trackers

This first type is called an active tracker. This is where the device moves automatically in the direction of sunlight by drawing power from a battery. This battery may have a connection to regular power grid for operation. Another type of tracker does not rely on regular power for battery charging as they harvest energy from the sun while still using a specialized motor. The device moves as per the directions fed into its controlling device, or in a set pattern that you can control and modify.

Passive Trackers

These types of trackers does not have a motor and do not use electrical power for operation. They rely solely on the gravitational pull of the earth as well as the position of the sun in the sky. They tilt towards the east during sunrise and continue their movement towards the west, corresponding to the movements of the sun. This natural movement helps in maximizing the amount of sunlight falling on solar panels helping them to maintain a steady output.

Single-axis Trackers

Solar panel trackers come in either single-axis or dual-axis movement. Single-axis trackers are usually aligned in true-North meridian, though it is possible to change their position. This type of tracker can be aligned in a horizontal direction, vertical direction, or at a tilted angle. Single-axis trackers have been found to increase power generation when compared to stationary solar panels affixed on a roof or a wall.

Dual-axis Trackers

This type of tracker can move in two axes, usually located at right angle to each other. This grants a greater flexibility in movement and enables greater harvesting of solar energy. According to a study conducted by the Wright Ingraham Institute, dual-axis trackers can add as much as 6 percent of additional electrical power compared to single-axis trackers. Dual-axis trackers are available for domestic users and it is recommended that you install them at your home to boost power generation if you have the means.

The flexibility and power-enhancement features of solar panel trackers will enable you to boost electrical power generation in your home or office. They are useful if you plan to squeeze the utmost out of your solar panels.

Inexpensive Business Cards

Doing business in India isn’t much different from that of any of the Western countries. They are less formal than the Far East, but still have a few considerations that should be borne in mind for anyone wanting to do business there.

India is a mix of religions, and is comprised of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, and Christians. They all (mostly) live side by side in peace. On top of this diversity are the remnants of the caste system which prevailed in the nineteenth century. It isn’t so much as issue now, but it may explain puzzling deference’s or slight bows when corporate ranking doesn’t seem to require it. Then to add a little more spice to the mix there is the remnants of the British formality from the days of the Raj. This adds a comforting air of politeness and predictability in dealings that is most welcome in this fascinating and diverse culture.

Like businesses in most countries, Indians are formal at the first meeting, but relax as they get to know you. The Indian culture is a hierarchical structure where elders are deferred to in many business situations. Caste may play a part here and cause confusion, but this influence is waning as time goes on so may not be an issue.

When greeting an Indian contact it is proper to use their honorific then surname, especially if they have an academic one. So a greeting would be “Mr Khan, or Professor Khan”. This formality will be dropped once a relationship is struck with the contact, but it is polite to use this manner until requested to do otherwise. When attending a meeting, handshakes with men are expected. Indians aren’t as physical and many western cultures, and prefer a light handshake to a strong one. Don’t try to shake the hand of a woman unless she offers it, and only then with the right hand.

Business cards should be exchanged at the beginning of the meeting. Any cards received should be read and placed with respect in a card wallet or holder. This process isn’t as formal as in many other countries and is partly because of India’s increased exposure to Western culture. Because of this influence it is economical to use inexpensive business cards in this situation as no great stock are put into them. Ensure an adequate supply is taken though, as they are still exchanged at every first-time meeting.

India is a hot country so dress is a little more relaxed. Although senior executives still wear suits, they are often without a tie. A light jacket and trousers with a long sleeved shirt is regarded as normal. Female visitors to India should dress conservatively.

Indians like small talk and it will be a feature of any business meeting or dinner. It is regarded as polite to ask and talk about family so don’t be offended if they ask some personal questions. It is perfectly normal. If the meetings involve dinner with a host, avoid eating with the left hand, as Muslims see it as unclean and don’t thank the host afterwards, as it would be natural to do. It is regarded as rude to turn up on time for an Indian dinner, but also rude to turn up over half an hour late.

Apart from those few points, doing business in India is much like anywhere else in the world. Be professional and polite and things will be fine.
