Charts Roll Into 2010 With Taylor Swift and Reba McEntire at the Helm
Sorry to say there are no fireworks on Billboard’s final country charts of 2009. Taylor Swift’s Fearless and Reba McEntire’s “Consider Me Gone” still top the albums and songs listings, there are no new albums to report and the titles within the Top 5 albums and songs are the same as those of last week (although there is some minor shifting among the singles).
Swift, 20, is no stranger to the Grammy stage. She performed a duet of her song “Fifteen” with Miley Cyrus at last year’s ceremony. The two sat on stools surrounded by the audience, while Swift played guitar.
Swift may opt to do something more flashy this time around, after honing her performing skills on her first headlining tour this summer. Her “Fearless” tour sold out everywhere she went. She was the year’s best-selling artist outside of Michael Jackson, and her “Fearless” CD, which is also nominated for best country album, has sold more than 4.5 million copies.
Taylor Swift will be a guest on The Jay Leno Show on Friday (Dec. 4). The episode will air at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. In addition, Swift will be a guest at the Jingle Ball concerts sponsored by KIIS-FM/Los Angeles and WHTZ-FM (Z100)/New York City. The first event takes place Saturday (Dec. 5) the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The New York concert is scheduled for Dec. 11 at Madison Square Garden. In related news, the episode of Saturday Night Live featuring Swift as host and musical guest will re-air on Dec. 26 on NBC.

November 30, 2009, (Sawf News) – Nicole Kidman is effusive in her praise for Taylor Swift who trumped her husband and country star Keith Urban at the CMAs this years. “She’s everything that she appears to be,” says Kidman.
“She is a delight,” Kidman told MTV at a recent press junket to promote her film Nine. “And she so deserves what’s happening to her because, having met her and seeing her actually really become a phenomenon over the past couple of years, she really deserves it.”
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Taylor Swift’s clean sweep of the Country Music Assn. Awards helped the broadcast reach its biggest audience in four years, according to preliminary figures released on Thursday.
The three-hour show averaged 16.8 million viewers for ABC on Wednesday, up from 15.9 million last year. It marks the highest score since 2005, when 17.7 million people tuned in to the CBS broadcast.
Still, viewership was off by more than half from the record of 36 million set in 1978, when Dolly Parton was named entertainer of the year.
